TIME EXPRESSIONS



1.    A WHILE BACK

Meaning: at some time in the past.

The dentist fixed my bad tooth a while back and now it’s fallen off.

2.    EVERY NOW AND THEN

Meaning: Occasionally.

Sarath is seeing his friend for coffee and chat every now and then.

3.    ABOUT TIME

Meaning: When you think that something should have happened earlier.

It’s about time you tidied up your room.

4.    AHEAD OF TIME

Meaning: In advance.

Malini will prepare food for the party ahead of time and keep it in the oven.

5.    IN NO TIME

Meaning: Very quickly.

As soon as we get out of the traffic jam, we’ll be home in no time.

6.    EVERY SO OFTEN

Meaning: Sometimes

Kavimani used to visit her grandparents every so often while they were still alive.
