1.    Spice things up

-         To spice things up means to make them more interesting or exciting

Example:

1.    Instead of just buying Karthik a birthday gift, let’s spice things up by taking him out for dinner.  

           2 .    Beat up

-         Assault and injure someone by hitting, kicking, or punching them repeatedly

Example:

1.    They threatened to beat him up if he didn’t hand over the money.

           3.    Cover up

          - to try to stop people finding out about something bad

               Example:

1.    Government try to cover up their mistakes, while journalists try to reveal them.

4. Beef up

          - give more substance or strength to something

          Example:

1.    Cost-cutting measures are planned to beef up performance.

           5.   Break through

-         To make a way through a barrier or a surface

Example:

1.    The workers had to break through the wall to access the pipe.
