PARTS OF SPEECH

(PART II)

Verbs and its types:

i)              Verbs are the main part of the sentence.

ii)           It tells us about the action performed by the subject and the situation of the subject.

iii)         Verbs are mainly divided into two types. They are Main verbs and Auxiliary verbs. Auxiliary verbs are also called as helping verbs.

Main verbs:

i)              Main Verbs show the action of the subject.

ii)           They stand alone and give meaning to sentence without depending on the other verbs.

iii)         Example: Run, sleep, eat, etc.

Auxiliary verbs:

i)              Auxiliary verbs give meaning to the main verbs.

ii)           They cannot stand alone as they depend on the main verb to give meaning.

iii)         Example: is, was, has, etc.
